Cinnamon: Mastering a Century Old Anti-Aging Cure

One of the most important points of my book, Over-The-Counter Natural Cures, was that if blood sugar goes unchecked, it can devastate the entire body. And if you’re on “The Pill,” drinking “Vitamin Water,” swallowing anti-depressants, adhering to a fad-diet, or even abstaining from exercise, then your blood sugar may be diminishing your quality of life at best, or decreasing your lifespan at worst.

Everything from hearing and vision to sexual function, mental health, and sleep are affected by high blood sugar levels. It’s the leading cause of ADHD, blindness, amputations and kidney failure. It can triple the risk for heart attack and stroke. This highly underrated, insidious, and deadly disorder affects an estimated 25 percent of the population and is growing in prevalence. Looking at hospital patients, The New York Times underscored the risks of “bad blood” stating that, “No matter what the illness, people in hospital intensive care units tend to have elevated blood sugar levels.”

Blood Sugar Meds Decreasing Lifespan

Commonly prescribed meds are being used ravenously to curb the existing, high blood sugar epidemic, but aren’t helping. While they might lower blood sugar levels by 15 percent to 20 percent, this effect doesn’t translate into health. Quite the opposite, this drop in blood sugar results in early death!

In a press release issued by the Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. government alerted the public about the hypoglycemic risk: “Intensively targeting blood sugar [with hypoglycemics] to near-normal levels in adults with Type II diabetes at especially high risk for heart attack and stroke does not significantly reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events, such as fatal or nonfatal heart attacks or stroke, but increases risk of death, compared to standard treatment.”

One Cure for Weight Gain, Heart Disease and Pre-Mature Wrinkles?

Using natural product screening, chemists have rediscovered the Century old, anti-aging cure that can now serve as a blockbuster diabetes drug. It successfully lowers blood sugar, triglycerides, and A1C levels while increasing insulin sensitivity—and without a single negative side effect. This leads to weight management, heart disease avoidance and even protection from pre-mature wrinkling. When compared clinically to commonly used anti-diabetic drugs such as metformin, it outperforms.

Such a discovery is like striking medicinal gold. This drug is commonly known as cinnamon! Just as the simple act of supplementing lemon juice saved our ancestors from the deadly scourge of scurvy, cinnamon is positioned to save modern society from the Type II diabetes threat.

The easiest way to harness the benefits of cinnamon is to buy it organically and use it before meals three times per day. The two main types of cinnamon are Cinnamomum cassia (sometimes labeled Saigon cinnamon) and Cinnamomum verum (sometimes labeled Ceylon cinnamon). Both are the common forms used in the studies and are readily available on grocery shelves.

Mastering The Anti-Aging Cure

To master the anti-aging cure, I used state-of-the-art chemistry methods to find the best cinnamon product – one that carried nature’s full spectrum of naturally occurring actives without any adulterants like heavy metals and fillers. I showed in Over-The-Counter Natural Cures that Spring Valley brand cinnamon fit the bill. It sold for about eight dollars per bottle at Walmart.

Since then, select Spring Valley products have been adulterated with the various compounds that have proven to be dangerous, as I previous wrote about on my blog. And further testing on select cinnamon products from Whole Foods (image above) has shown that even the most expensive products are void of naturally occurring ingredients that are mandatory for blood sugar control, namely cinnamaldehyde – an important, fat-soluble, active ingredient found naturally in cinnamon!

The Lead Anti-Aging Compound Goes Missing

In animal and human studies, cinnamaldehyde has shown “exciting anti-diabetic efficacy.” In their research studies, professors of medicine and clinical nutrition Dr. Vijai K. Pasupuleti and Dr. Anderson, showed that the medicinal power of cinnamaldehyde in its whole herb context was not only a powerful anti-oxidant but also a safe and effective compound for controlling blood sugar.

Despite the importance of cinnamaldehyde, select companies are removing it from their capsules by performing water-extraction methods on cinnamon. Since cinnamaldehyde is fat soluble, the medicinal ingredient is left behind as waste. Such extraction methods are performed as a means of garnering some type of a marketing advantage over competitors.

But in reality, it only produces and inferior counterpart to Mother Nature. This lab test proves it, showing 0% cinnamaldehyde in a popular product sold as a “patented” blend of cinnamon (It’s not New Chapter). (Notice that I also tested for lead, just to be safe, as it has shown up in nutritional supplements previously!)

Nothing slows the aging process better than controlling blood sugar with cinnamon. But most people buying it in pill form are not harnessing this century-old, anti-aging cure.
