Hi ladies it’s Lea-Ann, Shane’s wife. Three more days until I’m on the stage!
We are heading to Denver in the morning for The Rocky Mountain Figure Championship. It is my second Figure competition. And I have to admit, standing on stage in an itty bitty bathing suit with bright lights and all eyes on me makes me nervous. I have to hold all of my muscles tight in mandatory poses for up to 20 minutes and at the same time have a pretty smile.
The sport of Figure is a contest in which the woman is judged on muscular symmetry, tone, poise and beauty. It is like a pageant for muscle gals. It takes a tremendous amount of dedication, a smart diet that includes supplements, and heavy, heavy weights!
I decided to enter my first show at the encouragement of my dear friend Tina. Tina happens to be a mother of three, a Grandmother of one, and competed in her first show at age 49 placing second in her division. After watching Tina take the stage, I knew this is what I wanted to do. Her confidence and self worth shined. She had something all to herself!
As a Mom, you can’t even sneak into the restroom for 30 seconds without being summoned by a child, or husband that needs something. Sometimes, it feels as though we are living our lives for others, not ourselves. Competing in Figure gave me a new goal that was all about me! And I encourage every Mom to make goals for themselves so that they can have the same!
I am not saying that all Moms need to compete in Figure. But I am saying that you need to set a fitness goal and do whatever it takes to reach it. Do it for yourself, no one else! If I can stand on stage in front of thousands, you can set a fitness goal. Once you achieve it, you’ll feel like you finally have something that belongs to you. And you’ll be the confident, beautiful woman that you are.
Tell me your goals and let me know when you’ll achieve them. Ill post pics and updates on how the big day went!
