Should I Eat Meat?

TV Cook Nigella Lawson, also 51 years old, advocates eating meat, butter and enjoying a good wine (LEFT)

I’m pretty selective about what I eat. Nothing manifests health and “Hormonal Intelligence” more than proper diet. Most of us can agree on that. The argument usually arises when we attempt to define “proper diet.” Some insist on a vegetarian diet, while others proclaim meat as the necessary staple of good health. Which is it?

Studies on the age forming process known as “glycation” show the way.

The first measure of a healthy diet is the relative amount of glycation that occurs after meal consumption. Glycation is simply an age accelerator that arises from excess blood glucose (sugar). Aside from causing unsightly wrinkles, it can also destroy muscles, joints and the cardiovascular system.

A simple blood test can be used to measure it and can illustrate how you are aging based on the food you eat. Applying it, scientists found that vegetarians have higher amounts of glycation compared to meat eaters. But you can see that in the photos above.

Avoiding meat, vegetarian diets lack an array of anti-glycation compounds like carnosine, a full spectrum of nutritive B-vitamins (not the limp mimics you would find in a multi-vitamin), and acetyl-L-carnitine.

Vegetables, of course, also provide tons of nutritive compounds, especially those with anti-cancer properties. Therefore, I eat both veggies and meat, and I always try to get both locally – organic and grass fed or from www.uswellnessmeats.com.
